Item Description
New Made Item: New production copied directly from an original in the IMA collection. Under Shaka Zulu, the Zulu warrior carried a short stabbing spear with an approximate 8 inch blade over 1.5 inches wide fastened with wire wrapping to a 30" long wooden shaft.
The ZULU IKLWA is a shorter-style assegai. This weapon was known as the iklwa or ixwa - for the sound that was heard as it was withdrawn from the victim's wound. Made famous in the Zulu Wars of South Africa, as seen in the films "Zulu" and "Zulu Dawn" and used by the Zulu tribe during the Battle of Isandlwana, the Battle of Rorke's Drift, and the Battle of Ulundi during the Zulu war in 1879 South Africa.
Constructed of steel with copper wire reinforced socket and all wood shaft. The Zulu "Iklwa" is a must for Victorian history buffs or collectors of the Martini-Henry rifle.
This reproduction was copied directly from an original Iklwa in the IMA collection it's the closest reproduction we have seen available on the market today and far exceeds our previous offering.
