Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a nice example of the traditional Soviet Union Naval Officer's Dagger, which has gilt brass alloy mounts and a nickel plated blade, in service-used condition. The blade ricasso is maker marked and dated in Cyrillic with БУЛАМ / 1988 (BULAT / 1992), and has a serial number on the reverse: 21361. The grip of some sort of yellow ochre type synthetic bone. The pommel has a Soviet Star on the tip, and the USSR Emblem on the side. The brass mounted leather scabbard is engraved on the throat with a fouled anchor on one side, and a Man-o-War on the reverse.
The dagger is 12¼ inches long with a 8 3/8 inch double edged spear-point blade, a classic dagger design. The scabbard lock is fully functional, and the hilt fittings are mostly tight on the tang, as the grip looks to have shrunk a bit in the past several decades. The blade has some oxidation and loss of plating near the tip. There is some tarnishing to the finish on the brass fittings.
Very attractive and ready to display!
