Item Description

Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a great WAC Uniform grouping belonging to Private First Class Rebecca N. Blake, who served with the Women’s Army Corps during World War II. The grouping includes not only her uniform, but a binder filled with photos, documents, ID Cards, WAC Newspapers, and a great studio portrait of Blake wearing the exact overseas cap included in the grouping!

The grouping includes:
- Blake’s Ike Uniform jacket with an Army Air Forces patch on the left shoulder. There are US and Air Corps collar insignia, with a 2-place ribbon bar with the American Campaign medal and the US WWII Victory Medal. Blake’s laundry number, B-3206, is stenciled below the collar.
- Blake’s uniform shirt, in good condition with her laundry number stamped below the collar.
- Blake’s Overseas cap with an Army Air Corps Technical School badge. The cap has some extensive moth damage especially toward the front. Blake can be seen wearing this cap in a photo in the group! Her laundry number is stamped inside.
- Blake’s other overseas cap with some moth damage and her laundry number inside.
- Blake’s uniform skirt, in good shape overall.
- Blake’s uniform tie.
- Binder including 55 original photographs, several ID cards, WAC Manuals, documentation from Blake’s enlistment and service, copy of a great group photo with a copy showing the signatures on the back, several WAC Newspapers and publications. Much of the material has minor fire damage along the edges. There are also several documents from her time in training, charts of Army hierarchy and insignia with annotations. There is a ton of great material in this binder!

Rebecca N. Blake was born as Rebecca Nelle Hallmark on March 5th, 1919. Due to her multiple marriages, she also shows up in records as Rebecca Nelle Marshall, Rebecca Blake, and Rebecca Burke. She enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps on April 10th, 1945 in Charleston, West Virginia, serial number A-503206. This is corroborated by her laundry number being seen in both overseas caps, B-3206. Her serial number is also written on some of the correspondence in the binder. She served through the end of the war and would eventually move to California, marrying Quincy D. Hallmark on March 17th, 1963. She would remain a Hallmark the rest of her life, passing away on December 29th, 2005.

This is a fantastic WAC grouping with tons of material and display opportunities. Comes ready for further research and display.
